Episode 10 – By The Numbers

Episode 10 takes us on a journey through the multitude of government databases and statistics, but the discussion is far from dull.  Matt and I go over a December Ebony article, chronicling the state of blacks in America.

To start, we look at the halt to President Obama’s immigration plans, in Texas, and his goal of establishing a new cyber security agency.

Admittedly, there is little entertainment talk this week, but the next podcast should make up for that.

As always, we encourage everyone to provide feedback on the episodes through the webpage: believethat.blackvalor.net or email at believethatnews@gmail.com

Episode 9 – Strange Fruit

For episode 9, we comment on the newly released report on lynching, completed by Equal Justice Initiative.  Is this report good for race relations, or not?  Listen to the podcast and decide for yourself.

Also, Matt and I talk about the two teen shootings in Pittsburgh that made national news.  Social media played a large role in the perpetrators getting caught and what does that say about narcissism and the young?

Samsung gets a couple minutes of air time with their smart tv’s that know a little too much about their users.

As usual, we round out the podcast on a lighter note, as we look at the deal Marvel and Sony made to bring Spiderman to the Avengers universe.  Lastly, I hype up the new Elite Dangerous space sim game.

Episode 8 – Gentrified

Sorry for the slight delay.  This week Matt and I rant about the anti-vaccination campaign.  Why are there counties in California with lower levels of vaccination than third-world countries?  These are, supposedly, educated people.  Also, we talk about an article that states gentrification is a myth.  Do you agree?  To round out the episode we cover Suge Knights arrest for murder and the usual entertainment round up.

Episode 7 – Cuba Libre

This was one of our best episodes yet.  Matt and I talk about the thawing relations between America and Cuba.  Also, we cover the decision to vacate arrests warrants from 1962, for the “Friendship Nine.”

On a lighter note, we give our impressions on the new Fantastic Four movie, as we pick apart the new trailer.

6 – 2050 A.D. Predictions

This week Matt and I went a little long, again.  We start off talking about predictions for things that will be real by 2050 A.D.  Next, we give our impressions on the State of the Union address, by President Obama.  Our longest tangent is on the demise/return of Star Wars comics and video games.

Episode 5 – Comedy and Terror

This week we discuss several topics, ranging from the rally of world leaders in Paris, following the Charlie Hebdo attacks, to sending manned missions to Mars.  Also, Matt and I debate the character of Mitt Romney and a disgraced Air Force general.
