Episode 36 – The Poor Pay More

Why is it expensive to be poor?  This week we cover an article that explains the many ways poverty can be expensive.  Also, we discuss the disparity in arrests between well off black kids and poor white kids.

Near the end of the show we give our spoiler free impressions on Batman vs Superman and Daredevil season 2.  After the show we are going to post a spoiler filled review of both shows.

Episode 35 – Delayed Justice

President Obama selected a nominee for the Supreme Court and the GOP continues to block the hearing.  We discuss the qualifications of Judge Garland and how the Republican refusal to vote on a new justice can impact elections in November.  Also we compare and contrast Donald Trump’s campaign with other fascists politicians, like Hitler.

For tech and entertainment we cover a drone bazooka, Daredevil season 2, The Division and more.

Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia passed away recently and the battle for his seat has begun.  We discuss the response from politicians about President Obama’s right to fill the seat before the next elections.  This week, we also talk about the Beyonce Superbowl controversy and Flint Michigan.

President Obama is on his way out and the contenders are hot to fill his seat.  This week we give our impressions on the State of the Union address and contrast Obama’s vision with the Democrat and Republican candidates views.

Of course, there is some entertainment news and a brief discussion on the quality and quantity of original online programming for streaming services, like Netflix.

We start the episode memorializing two civil rights pioneers who passed last week, Julian Bond and Louis Stokes.  Also, we feature at least four articles that make us wonder what is going on in Missouri right now.

On the entertainment front, we look at the revealed cast for the upcoming Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

Episode 25 – Right To Vote

Last week California decided to reinstate voting rights for low level offender’s who have completed probation.  This  was a significant move, after the Supreme Court struck down the Voter Registration Act.  We discuss the ramifications of this ruling and the ongoing efforts of other states to limit voters in specific areas.

As usual, we round out the episode with entertainment topics.  This week was dominated by some impressions of upcoming games, like Galak-z, on the PS4.

Episode 18 – Bad Parenting

This episode runs slightly longer, to make up for the missed week.  We have a trio of stories that highlight bad parenting, that were in the press last week.  Also, there are two good news stories about the Pittsburgh Courier and a high school valedictorian who beat all odds to graduate.

For the geeks, we talk about the latest Star Wars comic bombshell and what it could mean for the movie that comes out at the end of the year.

Episode 17 – Bikers Gone Wild

This week we talk about the outlaw biker shoot out in Texas.  There were nine deaths, eighteen arrests, and one restaurant closure.  Matt and I contrast the police response to armed, dangerous bikers and unarmed black men, who were accosted for minor crimes.

Also, we add a little science and nature talk about flying spiders and lab grown skin.  The episode is rounded out with our impressions of the new DC Legends of Tomorrow show.
